biography

I live in the Sonoran desert.

My wife Faith and I share a nice home in Glendale with our cat Echo. When we're not playing Wii, we're usually assembling some new piece of Ikea furniture.

I was born and raised in Marlborough, Massachusetts. After graduating from the venerable Marlborough High School (Go Panthers!), I fled westward as soon as possible. I attended the University of Colorado-Boulder where I spent 4 1/2 years worth of tuition studying the classics. I was rewarded with degrees in both English and Philosophy for my efforts. My father will on occassion condescendingly describe me as "a fascinating dinner party guest."

Again inspired to venture west, I worked for the US Forest Service as a wildland firefighter in California on the Plumas National Forest with PNF Crew 3 (now the Feather River Hotshots) and on the Lassen National Forest with LNF Crew 9 (The Lassen Hotshots).

The seasonal work schedule gave me the opportunity to throw a pack on my shoulder during the off-season and explore some far-flung destinations like Azerbaijan, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Georgia, Holland, and Turkey.

Since then, I've traded my fire boots for loafers and polo shirts and work with Thunderbird School of Global Management as an Associate Director with the Employer Relations team. I write when I can, and dabble in various web development projects whenever the urge strikes me.
I love crossword puzzles, smoky scotch, fly-fishing, and dream of one day submitting the winning caption for the New Yorker's cartoon caption contest. A man's got to have dreams.
